Development Engineer E/E – Defence
Berlin Full Time
As Development Engineer E/E in the defence environment, you work on complex, safety-critical electrical and electronic systems. Your focus is on developing, analysing, integrating, and validating E/E systems that must function reliably, interoperably, and robustly. You operate at the interface between hardware, software, and system integration. The role requires willingness to travel, as significant portions of the work may take place on-site at the customer's premises.
Your Tasks
- Analyse functional and technical requirements and derive specifications for E/E systems and hardware components.
- Develop, analyse, and integrate electrical and electronic system components.
- Contribute to the design and further development of system architectures in the E/E context.
- Design and conduct tests, validations, and verifications at component and system level.
- Ensure system functionality in the interplay of hardware, software, and integration.
- Analyse failures and fault patterns, identify root causes, and derive appropriate system improvement measures.
- Work with test rigs, test environments, and measurement equipment, and ensure their stable and safe operation.
- Take safety-relevant requirements into account and contribute to compliance with applicable standards.
- Coordinate closely with internal departments, external partners, and suppliers.
- Actively contribute your expertise to interdisciplinary project teams.
Required Skills
- Completed degree in electrical engineering, electronics, mechatronics, or a comparable technical field.
- Several years of experience in the development, integration, or validation of E/E systems.
- Sound understanding of electrical and electronic systems and their interaction.
- Experience working with technical specifications, circuit diagrams, and system documentation.
- Experience in the design and execution of tests, validations, and verifications.
- Experience handling measurement equipment, test rigs, or test environments.
- Understanding of interfaces between hardware, software, and system level.
- Experience in technically oriented project environments.
- Understanding of Bundeswehr procurement processes, in particular CPM and PBN.
- Excellent German and English language skills (written and spoken) at C1 level.
- Willingness to undergo a security vetting procedure in accordance with the SÜG.
Desired Skills
- Experience with communication protocols such as CAN, LIN, or comparable protocols.
- Knowledge of working with test rigs or HiL systems.
- Experience in functional safety or safety-critical systems.
- Basic understanding of Model-Based Systems Engineering or system integration.
- Strong analytical skills and a structured, solution-oriented working approach.
- Confident communication in internal and external settings.
- Independent, structured, and reliable working style.
- High level of integrity, resilience, and professional conflict and feedback handling skills.
