Project Manager – Defence

As Project Manager Defence you are responsible for demanding projects in the defence-adjacent environment. You manage programmes at the Bundeswehr and in industry, ensuring that quality, schedules, budget, and stakeholder expectations are reliably met. Your projects operate at the intersection of procurement, organisation, transformation, and technology. Since significant project portions may take place on-site at the customer's premises, you are willing to travel.

Your Tasks

  • Lead and manage complex projects in the areas of procurement, organisation, transformation, and IT-adjacent topics.
  • Take responsibility for quality, schedules, and budget in projects and sub-programmes.
  • Lead projects along Bundeswehr-related procurement processes, in particular CPM and PBN.
  • Plan, manage, and monitor project scope, resources, risks, and changes.
  • Coordinate technical and subject-matter interfaces between internal and external project participants.
  • Take over stakeholder and communications management vis-à-vis clients, executives, and project teams.
  • Identify project risks early, assess them, and initiate appropriate countermeasures.
  • Lead and motivate interdisciplinary project teams and strengthen constructive collaboration.
  • Support change and optimisation initiatives in stable and dynamic organisational structures.

Required Skills

  • Completed degree with a technical, business, or comparable focus.
  • At least three years of experience in project management, ideally in larger projects with a technical development component.
  • Excellent knowledge of established project management methods and structured process models.
  • Experience managing quality, time, and budget in demanding project environments.
  • Understanding of Bundeswehr-related procurement processes, in particular CPM and PBN.
  • Strong competence in stakeholder, risk, change, or communications management.
  • Ability to integrate technical, organisational, and subject-matter requirements and manage them with focus.
  • Fluent German and English language skills (written and spoken).
  • Willingness to undergo a security vetting procedure in accordance with the SÜG.

  • High level of integrity, resilience, and professional conflict and feedback handling skills.
  • PMI certification (e.g. PMP) desirable but not required.
