Systems Engineer – Defence
Berlin Full Time
As Systems Engineer Defence you work on complex, safety-critical systems with high technical and organisational relevance. You support the development, integration, and further development of technical solutions in networked architectures and operate at the interfaces between hardware, software, operations, and testing. You ensure that systems function reliably, interoperably, and robustly, and meet high quality, safety, and documentation standards. Since significant parts of your work may take place on-site at the customer's premises, you are willing to travel.
Your Tasks
- Participate in ongoing technical projects in the defence environment.
- Support the design, further development, and integration of system components.
- Extend and verify simulation and development environments.
- Develop function-relevant software components in current technology fields.
- Integrate software into hardware environments and ensure system functionality.
- Carry out tests, analyses, and verification steps to optimise existing systems.
Required Skills
- Completed degree with a technical focus.
- At least three years of experience as a Systems Engineer, ideally in larger technical projects.
- Prior knowledge of robotics, ROS, ROS2, or comparable frameworks.
- Programming experience, for example in C++ or Python.
- Experience handling sensor data, signal processing, or system perception.
- Understanding of Bundeswehr-related procurement processes, in particular CPM and PBN.
- High commitment and a quick grasp of new areas of competence.
- Fluent German and English language skills (written and spoken) at C1 level.
- Willingness to undergo a security vetting procedure in accordance with the SÜG.
Desired Skills
- Initial experience with simulation tools such as MATLAB, Simulink, or Gazebo.
- Basic knowledge of machine learning, simulation and digital twin, or numerical optimisation and control.
- Knowledge of hardware and software integration and Model-Based Systems Engineering.
- Strong communication and organisational skills as well as assertiveness.
- Independent, reliable, and results-oriented working style.
- High level of integrity, resilience, and professional conflict and feedback handling skills.
